Heard. Watched. Read.
  • “Limited resources force you to make do with what you’ve got. There’s no room for waste. And that forces you to be creative. Ever seen the weapons prisoners make out of soap or a spoon? They make due with what they’ve got. Now we’re not saying you should go out and shank somebody – but get creative and you’ll be amazed at what you can make with just a little.” – Jason Fried, Rework
  • “Have you ever heard someone else repeat one of your ideas and thought it was their own? When we are young and inexperienced, we can react negatively to these situations. Stop copying me! I was here first! As we mature, we start to see them in a different light. We understand that stepping up and helping is a service leaders provide to the world. It’s our duty to do this. If we expect to be leaders, we must do what leaders do – not for the credit, not for the thanks, not for the recognition. It’s our duty.” – Ryan Holiday, Daily Stoic – July, 13th.
  • There is no limit to the amount of good someone can do when they don’t care who get’s the credit.” – Pete Eshelman
  • Listening. Mindset. I had read this book (Mindset) before but wanted to be reminded of how we can get stuck in a fear-based, fixed mindset. This book discusses how we can look at life in either a growth mindset where we approach life in a learning approach or a fixed mindset where we take things personally and identify with individual labels. The biggest takeaway is loving the challenge and growth that life brings. Stop hoping for completion or things to get easier and live right in the moment and grow. This book has also been added to the company reading program. Worth $25 if you read it, and maybe a shifted perspective.
  • “Extraordinary leaders aren’t leading themselves. They are leading for others. When we’re leading with all of who we are, it becomes less about ourselves and more about those we serve.” – Becoming an Extraordinary Leader YouVersion Plan.
