You can read books; you can have theories, opinions and tell everyone how its suppose to be done. What drives goals though is showing up and doing the work. Day in – Day out. You show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. That’s the secret. The secret is it sucks, it get’s boring, you get frustrated, you want to quit – but you don’t. You just keep showing up. Some days feel like magic, some days you just get through. Everyone working towards a goal or who has set out to achieve a goal knows this. It’s not what you see on Facebook or Instagram. Someone else doesn’t have the ‘secret trick.’ All goals, every role, comes with a certain amount of suck and you just learn to love the suck. Yes, ‘Love The Suck.’
Instead of wanting it to be different – you just say “Good.”
Heard. Watched. Read.
- Being authentically kind, thoughtful, and present is a gift you can give to others. Mr. Rogers had this down. I got pretty close to being teary-eyed at the end, as this short film comes full circle and just sets the tone for the impact this man made with his life. Just the Way You Are.
- “See the light in others and treat them as if that is all you see. Choose to see people for the truth of who they are and not for the projections you have placed on them. Practice seeing innocence by honoring all that they have been through and the challenges they’ve faced, even if you have no idea what those challenges may be. Your acceptance will help you redirect your focus to see them in their light.” Gabriel Bernstein, in Judgement Detox.
- Do you ever get mad at some else while driving? Ever think “Well that’s not a smart thing to do? ” What about wanting to change people, or as you might put it, ‘They need to change,’ or ‘I’m just trying to help them.’ That’s judgment – and we all do it. Recognizing it and redirecting it can free your mind. I’d recommend reading Judgement Detox. I’m working on it and finding a clearer more thoughtful version of myself coming to the surface.
